Because in contemporary society enough attention has not been given to those who define and set the standards for determining the values, goals and direction of a culture and tradition of people living in the society; so there is displacement among alternatives and choices are difficult to make because people can't get priorities right.
Everyone wants to be rich, everyone is seeking and chasing after money, after possessions(women/men, properties, cars etc) people have lost their sense of reasoning to be driven by money. Women are blinded by what a man drives and blinded to what drives a man, seeking after money for acquiring possession, engaging in terrible acts, compromising on code needed to preserve the purity of their uniqueness as an individual, and share display of low self esteem in surrendering their dignity.
I thought money was the tool, I thought we had a specific purpose for which money was the vehicle to take us there. I have seen that money is a good servant for those who have become masters having the virtue of independence but deadly master for those who allows it rule them dictating to them how they should live and what they should do with it.
I thought in the simplest terms that being rich entails having more than enough so that you're satisfied and have no space to accommodate the excesses but today I observe richly poor people who the depth of their selfish desires and greed can gulp down $10,000,000 and more yet not having enough but I see one who has only #100,000 can make do with #50,000 and seeking for ways to multiply the remaining #50,000 to meet the needs and demands of others. In the philosophy of system individualism being the first value doesn't advocate sacrifice which means that I am going to only give to my neighbor or to the world out of my abundance - it means that once am full, i give the excesses (from my fruits not from my seed) I am rich when, I am no longer a seed when it doesn't require all the time and resources to grow me to a tree with many fruits to disperse. It means that my satisfaction doesn't depend on the external because from the inside. I am fully sustained and just need a few from the outside to peak and complement the already existing resources in producing and multiplying the left over extensively and give to all of mankind
Explore my parameters of value and determine how rich or poor you are. To even start the evaluation decide if you are complete, you don't need anything more for yourself - that what you have is excess then let's measure the value of your riches
Universality: the things you have in excess to give how many people need it? Is it restricted to people by gender, age, social class, profession or geographical location or is it for all irrespective of the above criteria a farmer eg is rich based on this because his products is universal everyone needs it everyday
Durability: How long can it continue to serve that purpose do we need to reproduce it frequently? People like Karl max (socialism) Cleisthenes, (Democracy) in Athens, in 510 BC.
Jesus Christ (christianity)who develop standard of system on which major institutions driving political and socioeconomic activities in over 50 countries over the last 2000years (BC)and still counting are rich people their excesses can satisfy more than 0ne country for over 1000years
Fundamentality: what other needs of people depends on what you give out your excesses for. What you are solving , how many other aspects of life is connected or tied to it directly or indirectly consider the invention of Cleisthenes, in 510 BC. Democracy imagine how many institutions of society driving political and socioeconomic activities in different sectors and industries will collapse if we with drew it. A whole country with all the social political and economic activities would come to a halt then tell me the foundation for the development we are enjoying today? that's value that's a rich man
I have other parameters but subscribe to the period updates on the encyclopedia of the philosophy of system for more
Economics taught us that man's wants are unlimited but the resources to meet/satisfy them are scarce which tell you that the source of the satisfaction man derives is not extrinsic but intrinsic there is a metaphysical factor. A man therefore can only be satisfied when he knows and employs/gives the unique value of his individuality towards achieving (progressively working towards) the goal of the system. This explains why a person can have so much but still be unhappy because the system as a continuous circle of activities requires giving and receiving to give again and not accumulating and storing which could inhibit(and if continued can hault) the flow and circulation of resources and processes Within the system. That is why the value of the possession and happiness in a person's life doesn't measure to the degree of the possession he accrued/amask but the degree to which the possession helps him live/give the purest beauty of his unique identity towards the goal of the system. True measure of riches is by donation not by acquisition, its by the degree of your contribution to enhance humanity not by collection, its by the degree of your giving not your receiving which shows that you're satisfied and overflowing with your resources and show is expedient to make donation and contributions because you have overcome greed and coverteousness
If you are yet to be satisfied with all the money in your account, with all the cars, with all the women, with all the houses and everything you have acquired and you have not started thinking of what to give to mankind as a measure of your contribution being a member of the system for the continuity of reality's system in a healthy and optimal state of functionality, then am afraid, you are richly poor
